Please Lou Holtz, You Just Cannot Be Serious

Lou Holtz and his biased antics are at it again, declaring on national television that The University of Notre Dame will play Florida for the BCS National Championship.  They return all 11 starters on offense, their schedule provides some beneficial breathing room… all true.  But, Lou Holtz, you can’t be serious.

Notre Dame went 6-6 last season, propelled by the sub-par play of Junior quarterback, Jimmy Clausen, as well as running back Armando Allen Jr. and receiver Golden Tate.  All I know is that 12 weeks from now, the same team that lost to Syracuse last year 24-23, is not going to be staring down Tim Tebow and the Gators for all the hardware.

Holtz attributes The Irish’s futuristic success to their lack-luster schedule.  With games against Nevada, Washington, Washington St.,  and Purdue among others, I can agree with the proposition that Notre Dame won’t have the toughest road to a bowl game. Yet, he’s trying to say that if Notre Dame loses a mere one game to USC, they have a better chance of making it to the National Championship game then USC, Oklahoma, or Texas does if they each lose one game (which after looking at their schedules is highly likely).  That will absolutely not happen Mr. Holtz, because quite frankly, nobody wants to see Notre Dame play Florida, especially if Oklahoma and Texas are up their in the BCS standings.

To put it simply, Lou Holtz can’t be serious.  ESPN, please take a good, hard look at your analysts and examine their biases.  You probably wouldn’t be surprised to discover John Kruk and Lou Holtz would get along just fine.
