Yesterday, I went out to see the highly anticipated film The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard starring Entourage’s finest, Jeremy Piven.  After seeing countless commercials for it, reading every detail regarding it’s release on Internet Movie Database, and realizing Will Ferrel was  going to have a cameo in the movie, I was excited to say the least.  However, after actually paying $10.75 to sit down and see it, my excitement was dashed and my greenbacks were wasted.

The main character, Don Ready (Piven) is called upon by Ben Selleck, the owner of a faltering car dealership, to put his salesmanship to the ultimate test.  Ready is joined by his team of comrades, specifically Jibby (Ving Rhames), Brent (David Koechner), and Babs (Kathryn Hahn) on his journey to Temecula, California.  The only thing in his way is Paxton Harding (Ed Helms), the owner of a rival auto dealership and lead singer of the up and coming man-band, Big Ups.  It’s July 4th weekend, and Ready has three days to sell every single car on the Selleck lot in order to avoid bankruptcy.

I won’t reveal the predictable ending, but with a few funny lines along the way, and a “thank God he was in it, or else this movie wouldn’t even be remotely funny” performance from Will Ferrel, The Goods just didn’t deliver.

Recommendation: Wait until your friend purchases it on DVD.
